Canadian-Slovenians band together to send Donations for Slovenian Flood Relief

The Canadian-Slovenia Flood Fundraising Campaign Raises $167,000!

We are pleased to acknowledge the great efforts of our Canadian Slovenian Community to provide aid to Slovenia after the catastrophic flooding of August 2023.

Every donation was appreciated and it has been wonderful to see how our community banded together to help.  100% of the donations were forwarded to Slovenia through Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Slovenian Church.  Thank you to Father Leopold Valant for leading this effort and then to our associate organizations across Canada for communicating the Campaign.

To contribute to this crucial fundraising, the CSCC was pleased to assist the fundraising campaign by accepting donations via e-transfer.  All donations that went through OLMM will be able to get a tax receipt in January 2024.
ALSO, WE WISH TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE “GOLDEN DONORS” who donated over $10,000.  Two very generous individuals in Ontario donated $20,000 and $25,000 each, and an anonymous Ontario company and Moya Financial Credit Union each donated $10,000.
In BC, a donation of $20,000 was sent to us from a BC family/company after receiving communication about this campaign from the Vancouver Slovenian Society.  BC donations totalled over $25,000 to help with this disaster.
In total, $167,000 was raised!

NOTE:
Even though this Slovenian Flood fundraising Campaign has come to a close, please do not hesitate to send donations to your Slovenian friends and families in regions that have been affected, Karitas-Slovenia or Red Cross-Slovenia.  There is still much to do as Slovenia works to recover from this tragedy in the weeks and even years to come!
